For the love of caffeine, don’t spill the beans!
We’ll help you keep them secure. How important is it to do so?
Perhaps more than you know. It is absolutely vital to store your beans properly if you want to come anywhere near to the cup of coffee you’ll want to marry (and wake up to) someday.
If you’re not putting much care into where you’re storing your beans, or suspect you should be using a little more, explore why this is so important with us before you browse our products.
The Importance of Proper Bean Storage
Coffee beans are (as you may have guessed) the raw material to your cup of coffee! That means that if you want the brew to end perfectly, then it has to start perfectly.
That begins with storage.
Coffee begins losing its freshness almost immediately after it’s been roasted. For this, all of the experts agree that as soon as the roasting stops, the clock starts ticking and you want to use the beans as quickly as possible.
There are ways to preserve the freshness for a bit longer, though.
- 1. The first tip is actually not about a product but about your stocking habits: Your relationship with coffee will be better off if you buy smaller amounts, more frequently. A week or two’s supply should suit you fine. Otherwise, you’ll start making batches you won’t love the taste of.
- 2. Consider your beans deathly allergic to… well, everything. Light and heat, moisture and air will rob your beans of their lively flavor until they are husks of themselves. Avoid clear containers unless you’re using them for aesthetic purposes — coffee beans are quite beautiful.
-
3. Ensure your containers are airtight! Coffee absorbs moisture, odors and tastes — which will affect your brew — from the air around it. This is especially important if you wish to freeze your beans to preserve freshness (there are dissenting views on this, but it’s worth experimenting with).

You grind the beans into a coarse dust, of course! That is the only way to make coffee after all. Whether your preference is something automatic or something manual, we’ve got an excellent selection for you to consider.
