Description
Pull more balanced shots at a coarser grind with the Introvert Step-Down Portafilter Basket - an espresso basket that mounts in a standard 58mm portafilter and steps down to a 49mm extraction chamber. Holding the same dose in a narrower zone builds a deeper coffee bed, so resistance comes from the depth of the puck rather than from grinding finer and finer. The result is less channelling, fewer dry spots, and shots that carry their sweetness without the astringency that creeps in when a puck is pushed too fine.
Each basket is CNC-machined from a solid block of 304 stainless steel, which is what allows the perfectly vertical walls through the full depth of the extraction zone and a thickened base that shows little to no flex at 9 bar. Because the walls never change diameter, the laser-cut holes run right to the outer edge, and a tamper or puck screen seats identically at any depth. The angled step-down drops loose grounds cleanly into the 49mm zone with a tap instead of catching them on the ledge.
Machined from solid steel, the basket resists the corrosion and gradual distortion that come with daily use and hot water. It arrives with the step-down dosing ring, tamper and puck screen all sized to the 49mm zone, so dosing and tamping to the right depth works from the very first shot. You will still need a 58mm bottomless portafilter - the basket runs taller than a standard one, so a spouted portafilter won't close over it.

49mm Extraction Zone - Concentrates flow into a smaller chamber, building a taller puck that reaches full extraction at a coarser grind.
CNC-Machined 304 Stainless Steel - Cut from solid billet for exact geometry, sharp edges and a base that holds its shape under pressure.
Vertical Walls - No change in diameter through the extraction zone, so pressure stays even at every depth of the puck.
Fibonacci-Inspired Hole Array - Laser-cut holes spaced right to the absolute edge of the basket for even flow across the whole bed.
Two Dose Capacities - Choose 16 - 18g for a tight dose with minimal headspace, or 20 - 22g for a full dose that also takes lower ones.
Three Flow Rates - Low, Medium and High hole patterns give three different extraction speeds at the same dose.

Warranty & Returns
Barista Warehouse Returns
Barista Warehouse offers a hassle-free returns and exchange policy that lets you return any purchased item for a store credit, refund or exchange for another item provided that it meets the following conditions:
- The item is returned within 14 days from the date of your order.
- Presents 'as new' in appearance, is unused and show no signs of use, wear and tear or damage. We cannot accept a return for items that have been used.
- Be packaged in it's original undamaged packaging with all product tickets and tags.
- The item's original packaging is not marked or used as the outer layer of packaging for transport. Please ensure you do not attach anything to the outside of the original packaging.
- Barista Warehouse is not responsible for any freight charges on returned items unless the item(s) being returned have arrived damaged or faulty in which case we will send a pre-paid return label to send the item back.
- Items being returned must include a copy of the receipt/invoice for the order.
- We do not accept returns on any machines, electrical parts, special order items, apparel, books, posters and dvds. So please choose wisely.
- Items returned with a value >$400 will be eligible for a store credit or exchange only.
All returns must be authorised by Barista Warehouse before sending the item back to us. Please contact one of our friendly Team Members via hello@baristawarehouse.com.au or using the contact form online for our Returns Address and instructions to get the ball rolling and start the return process.
Incorrect/Faulty/Damaged Items
In the unlikely event that your order has been damaged on the way to you, is faulty on arrival or you have simply received an incorrect item in your order or it does not match the product description we will help to get this sorted for you as quickly as possible. Please notify us via hello@baristawarehouse.com.au or using the contact form online within 3 business days of receiving your order of any discrepancies or damaged products and we will begin the hassle free return process. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Faulty or damaged items are subject to the following conditions:
- If an item is faulty or damaged on arrival and the fault/damage amounts to a major failure of the product you are entitled to a refund or a replacement of the product.
- If the item fails to be of acceptable quality but the failure does not amount to a major failure you are entitled to have the item repaired or replaced. Barista Warehouse will determine the extent of the failure once assessed by a team member.
- Faulty/damaged items being returned must include a copy of the receipt/invoice for the order.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not limited by a defined time. However, the Australian Consumer Law does recognise that the relevant time period can vary from product to product, depending on factors such as the nature of the product and the price. Barista Warehouse adopts the same approach. As you can appreciate, the type of remedy we can offer you may also vary depending on how long it takes you to return the product to us.
